“No, it was unsuccessful after all. Let’s be careful next time onwards”
It is the meat and vegetable stir-fry I supported and Yae cooked, at the wish of Yae. Although there were all kinds of close calls, we managed to safely complete it.
During the final seasoning, I asked Yae to do salt and pepper. I took my eyes away to prepare the plates since she had managed to do it without any significant problems one way or another thus far, and Yae nearly messed up during that interval. It was completely my negligence, but I prevented it by a hair’s breadth. It wrapped up without us having to eat sweet meat and vegetable stir fry.
“The time is later than usual as well after all, so let’s hurry up and eat, shall we”

I immediately take a mouthful of the meat and vegetable stir fry Yae made. It is fine since both the bacon and vegetable are properly cooked through huh. I feel that the taste is delicious as well, but if I had to say something that bothers me……
“It’s a bit salty”
“Yeah. We should have reduced the amount of salt since there is also the bacon’s saltiness huh. It is my miss. Well, it is not that bothering if you eat it together with rice”
This is more of my miss than Yae’s miss huh. I chose bacon slices where I would normally use thinly sliced meat, prioritising the easiness-to-cook. The salt became too much instead because of that, so it makes you crave water.
“It’s true that it’s delicious when you eat it together with rice……but, as I thought, I prefer the meal Kazu-kun cooks”
“As expected, I have the confidence that my meals are more delicious than the dish cooked by someone who doesn’t even know ‘cat’s paw’. I, too, have been cooking for years after all”

Honestly, the meat and vegetable stir-fry this time around, partially also because I helped, but it is plenty delicious for her first time. It is worlds apart compared to what Yae made several years before. That was not something you can call food after all.
“I want to do it occasionally from here on out as well”
“It’s summer break after all; let’s do it several times a week, shall we”
“Un. But more so than that, I want to eat Kazu-kun’s homemade meal from here on out as well, so I want to go to the same university”

My heart throbs at the innocent smile she doesn’t show other people. Although I manage to respond somehow, the palpation is annoying. Something like this, it sure is strange huh.

An inconsequential daily conversation. But my heart is extraordinarily warm for some reason. Yae’s homemade dish which should be slightly salty felt extremely sweet.
